How To Spend Winter Break

CU Denver

You did it! You made it through the fall semester and now you can sit down and relax. The spring semester doesn’t start until January 14th, so you have some free time to kill. What are you going to do to fill the few empty weeks? There are many awesome things you can do during winter break for the academic, social and financial aspects of your life. It all depends on what you feel like doing.

However, before you do anything, take a moment and relax! College is hard on your mind and on your body. The first few days of winter break are perfect for catching up on all those hours of lost sleep.

Once you’re well rested, why not take a trip to see your family. If you’re at the beginning stages of your college career, mom and dad will want to know how everything is going. If you aren’t able to see your family (or you did but you’re already bored of your hometown), then why not jump into volunteering. Volunteering looks great on graduate school applications and resumes, and we can even help you find the right opportunity! Visit the Experiential Learning Center to find great volunteering and interning opportunities that might be of interest to you.

Getting a part-time job is a great way to spend your break because it gives you the chance to recover your finances. Of course, instead of working you could always travel. College is about exploring so if you can take a trip across the nation or in a different country. Just make sure you come back to us for the spring semester!

These are a few of our suggestions, but there are a lot of things you can do with your extra time. If there’s anything you want to do that we didn’t list (and that is through the university) don’t hesitate to ask!
